This was supposed to be just another weekend trip to Porkkala. However early fall weather can be a bit unpredictable. Friday and Saturday were as fine as could be. We spent our nights next to island Träskö. Saturday evening was warm and beautiful and we were eating outside on boat deck when Northern flights appeared right above us and spread to all directions. Nice! Trying to get pictures on a boat deck and with pocket digital camera was quite useless. If you play with gamma settings you can see that that black picture is not completely black after all.. Sunday was very foggy all day and completely still. Sometimes visibility was only 50-100m. We navigated to the wreck of Klaus Oldendorff and spent Sunday on top of it. The place is far from coastline and it was strange to be in the middle of nowhere inside fog. Another trawler joined us later. Later when we went back to Helsinki it was not only foggy but also dark :-) Radar was our friend then.. |
