Strytan is one of the strangest places we have
ever dived. It is a underwater thermal chimney that raises from the depth of 70
meters to 15 meters. You can see and feel the warm water coming out from the top
and cracks.
David took us to a small harbour called Hauganes
where we boarded a small fishing boat and headed to
Strytan.
We
had great visibility (for this time of year) and the sky was clear so there was
a lot of light. We descended the guide rope for a few meters and then saw the
top from a
distance.
I
did part of the second dive without my right dry glove so I could feel the warm
water (and warm up my hand - the nordic atlantic ocean is a cold place to
dive).
Amazing
place! There was also some fish around enjoying the warm waters and lots of
jelly fish.
After a cold diving we
enjoyed some warm pools in a local bath - In Iceland there are baths with hot
pools in nearly every town.
