Dagen efter in Husafell

Woke up late (TT slept with the barrel) and checked some places near Husafell camping area. On thursday we drove to Olafsfjordur where we met our Dive guide for next dives, David. David also offered us to stay in his home - thanks David!

Our first destination in Wednesday was a nearby lavatube - Surtshellir. The lava tube is almost 2 km long and one of the biggest in the world. We entered the tube from a opening in the mid section and found a strange world under the lava field.

On the other side the frozen floor made it easy to go a little deeper, to the place where all the Hatti-Vattis grow...

Next in line was Hraunfoss - a strange fall where the water comes out from a long wall of lava. Iceland never stops to surprise us!

After (very) late lunch (Ville has been cooking some strong Asian food to keep us going -- excellent!) we wanted to see a nearby glacier - Langjökull. We emptied Range from cargo and took it through some rough roads to the edge of the glacier. Ville again had some fun driving...

On the glacier we encountered some real strange sights like this water slide. I doubt this is going to be a popular water park, though...

For some reason this will always happen during my summer holidays...

Yet again we have pushed the edge of our world a step further.

The next we started driving towards Akureyri and Olafsfjordur. I was reading the map and decided to take a shortcut through roads 522 and 525. Unfortunately the road 525 was worse than some of the F-roads (=requires an off-road vehicle) we travelled in the previous day with Ville's Range. Still we managed to pass the road with our heavily loaded Subaru..

Late in the evening we arrived to David's home which is in a small fjord surrounded by snow capped mountains.

With the locals we got our first taste of the famous "Black Death" - an Icelandic traditional drink.. We are going to dive Strytan tomorrow, so we need try to keep our heads clean.
