Image is nothing - experience is everything

Arrived Iceland on thursday. Too many things to see and to do in only a two weeks. Also pictures do not tell the real story about the nature here. I'm getting less and less interested in touching computers and internet so this log will not be updated so often anymore..

The ferry arrived to Seydisfjördur in early thursday. The town is very small but serves as a harbour for Norrönä nicely. Getting out from Norrönä took some time but finally we were able to start our iceland tour. We took road nr 1 clockwise towards southern Iceland first.

Lambs are plenty in Iceland:

One does not need to starve while on the road...

On our way to camping site was a small lake (Jökulsarlon) that is formed by the melting of Vatnajökull. It was amazing as huge blocks of blue ice suddenly appeared in the middle of big black lava field!

The next stop was our first camping site - Skaftafell next to Vatnajökull:

Next to the camping site was the most beautiful fall that I have ever seen:

And Vatnajökull surrounded us from three sides (the night was COLD).

On friday we continued road 1 to the west and went to see the Geysir. Guess who were standing on the down wind side when it erupted...

Then Gulfoss - the biggest fall in Iceland (and Europe):

And finally to our camping site at Thingvellir:

There are so many flies around that I escaped to my tent and spent some time filling this log. Tomorrow we are going to dive Silfra here and then go on with our journey.
