We spent last three days in Bergen before heading
back home. We did some diving there and found out that the waters outside Bergen
offer excellent diving.
Norröna arrived to Bergen on tuesday noon in
a nice weather. We were met with a view of rocky hills and trees - a welcome
sight after weeks of lava fields and barren
islands.
Inger
Lise from DG dive club offered us her apartment for lodging. Unfortunately she
had to go to an oil platform for her two weeks shift the same day so she could
not dive with us and we even did not have time for a round of Ruusu. She however
arranged us some diving the next day and showed us around the city. Thank you
Inger Lise for everything!
On wednesday
we went to the premises of a local diving club, SUB-BSI, where we met Gro -
another DG member who went diving with us. Thanks, Gro, for the dives and dive
information.
Inger
Lise had also supplied us with the dive plan for our next dive in Svelgen. The
plan was very accurate despite the
looks.
Svelgen
is a narrow passage between small islands and the current is usually very heavy
there attracting lots of life. The visibility was 20-30 meters and the passage
was full of life including a big cat fish etc. An excellent but also very heavy
dive as we had to carry our equipment for long distances in warm temperature
(our good Karma was still there as it is supposed to rain 400 days / year in
Bergen and we had sunny day for the
diving).
Some
people decided to continue their dive to the next island and had quite a long
and hard way to carry their equipment back to cars
:-)
On
thursday we did some more diving in the area and walked around in Bergen. The
city looks good and is definately worth
visiting.
Our journey is now basically
over and all we have left is to drive back to Finland (1200 Km and one ferry to
go). Four weeks went very quickly and next week we have to adapt back to the
civilized life and work. It is not going to be
easy...
